Good thing number – 9
Clasification – Signature ‘make’ [sorry, I watched bake off last night, I couldn’t resist]
Time taken – 2.5 hours
At the very outset of this adventure the request for this ‘good thing’ was submitted by a friend of mine. I have a rather fabulous fabric stash in the cupboard in my spare room and this one gave my the chance to use some of it.
The request was for a superhero themed (but in a subtle kitschy kinda way, rather than full on recreation of iron man in the medium of fabric) tote bag. I knew exactly what I wnated to use! Fabric combinatons agreed and I was off….. except I wasn’t. There was a slight delay in proceedings, but for all the right reasons.
My fabulous hubby did a good thing too! He surprised me with a brand spanking new sewing machine! I am a little bit in love with it! I’m not going to bore you with details,,, instead I shall let you gaze upon it’s beauty….
I got a tad distracted and to be fair I needed to make sure I didn’t mess up and give her something hideous in exchange for the donation, so I had to know how to work the machine!! The result? …. I didn’t want to give it away!!!
If you want anything making please holler…. I love a bit of sewing machine time and have some fab fabrics
Im not sure how much this one is aboout the kids if I’m honest but the handful of us that shared this memory will always raise a smile… especially when we see this picture! We had spent the day at seaworld and a few of the kids didnt fancy one of the final rides so a group of us went to look at the dolphins in the underwater viewing area. The added bonus being the shade (Florida in Sept is hot!). What made this so lovely was some quiet time and some lovely chats with my fellow DF volunteers and the handful of kids with us enjoying some quiet time.
What made this such a funny memory is our consideabe effort to capture selfies with the dolphins! I swear I must have taken 50 photos! This was my best one!
And me and Zahida, well we captured it perfectly – that’s the money shot right there!!
But this pic sums our efforts up brilliantly… and maybe is a sign of our times too!
