Well this weekend has not been good for the good thing total, or sleep but it’s been pretty amazing for being surrounded by some insprational people doing ‘good things’ of their own.
Saturday morning Regan and I set off for her swimming lesson with the intention of completing at least one good thing, but aiming for two. We were thwarted in our attempts!
Attempt one – When we got up it was pouring with rain – brilliant! Intention: buy some brollies and hand out to people who looked in need. What happened? We walked out of the swimming baths to the sight of people collapsing their umbrellas as the rain stopped! (Its started again as we were on the way home!!!)
Attempt two – buy lunch for someone who looked very much in need (nominated by Jen R). Well after twenty minutes searching for someone, we gave up!! It was the same story in Harrogate last week! (note – I didnt head to Harrigate wit this intention, I just happened to be there. I did find a WI convention, but didnt think they’d really need the cake!)
Full of a cold, with two failed good thinging attempts under my belt; this weekend wasnt looking good.
What an inspirational (all be it long!) weekend. Sunday morning, my alarm went off at 2:30am. Now this would usually be ok, if I was being picked up by a taxi and whisked off to the airport. However, I was driving to Preston to meet a group of our Sports Therapy students. We loaded a coach headed for the Geeat North Run with nine massage plinths, ten rolls of blue roll, loads of massage lotion, antobacterail gel, patient note cards and we were off.
Based at South Sheilds Sailing club, the students were proving post event massage for those running in aid of the RNLI this year. Good thingers all around! The students were brilliant and the runners inspirational (though maybe not enough to make me want to don trainers instead of skates!)
So… in conclusion – a pants weekend for 40 good things… a fabulous one for good thinging in general – overall a win I’d say!!
I have however confirmed the venue for the 40th good thing today … oh and Ive tried to volunteer to help out on DIY SOS!!!
